As the first commenter on this site, I offer my thanks to Jon and the others who have worked so hard to make it operational.

And I hereby whack a bottle of cyber-champagne against the bow of this new ship in the CUPE 3903 fleet. Mid-priced champagne, but of decent quality.

    Sail on, sail on…

Thanks Colette (and everyone who has commented on the site so far)! It’s a work in progress, so the site will evolve as the needs of the membership do.

On another note – when Unit 2 members first subscribe, the site is set so that members can only post comments. However, upon registration, I will ‘promote’ all Unit 2 members so that they may also create posts on the site which others can comment on. This can include articles, points of information, or whatever. The posts will always appear on the main page. This system of user levels allows anyone to sign up and post comments (with moderation), but only CUPE Unit 2 members will be able to post.

Hello all, thanks for all of the hard work and effort in bringing this communication vehicle to fruition. Will there be edit functions for people who are posting? What about a mechanism for contacting each other through private messaging?

  4. Jon Johnson says:

Hi ProfTBA – Anyone can subscribe and comment on the site, but only CUPE 3903 Unit 2 members will be able to post content. If you fill in your name and other details in your profile you can get the necessary permissions to post on the website. I’m currently working on mechanisms to allow private messaging and a Unit 2 members only section, so keep checking back over the next week or two.
