Not that anyone cares, but I worked in the States at the City University of New York (CUNY) for a long time, and there was one way that CUNY negotiations beat the pants off York: everyone was part of the SAME UNION. Full-timers and part timers are in the same union, as are many people in non-teaching admin posts. This makes a big difference since the interests of full-timers aligns with that of part-timers. Despite the recession CUNY reports its working towards getting 70% full time faculty. The issues of quality of instruction don’t seem to be up for debate in the states. Just my two cents.

Just wanted to say great work on the Chronicle. It was fantastic seeing so much great information in one place. Thanks, Leslie Kern (Unit 2 Geography)

Thanks Leslie! A handful of unit 2s worked really hard to get it published in a timely fashion. I’m glad you liked it!
